I don't smoke.

But you could just buy small amounts from a known dealer.

I assume they are not hard to find.

I've lived in tbe PNW, LA, Northeast and in FL.

MJ was and always is, ubiquitous..

I have a strong disinclination to break the law, don't know any drug dealers, and am unwilling to risk my freedom.

[Edited to add] Got an answer already. Unfortunately, because cannabis is still Federally illegal, we can't have a forum for it. Oh, well. I tried.
So sad that we are still in this position years after States Legalizing for both medical and recreational.

regarding the original topic; I'm male, 65 years old. I live in Oregon where it's been legal for several years. I've been using Cannabis since 2011. I made brownies for quite a while and the effect for me was a significant loss of short term memory. I stopped making brownies several years ago. Now I just smoke about a third of a joint each evening. My short term memory is still impacted, particularly when it comes to driving. I sometimes forget how to get to my daughters apartment where she has been living for about 3 years. It's a good thing my wife remembers!

Moving is usually very expensive (unless you're moving from a pricey city to a much more affordable area). If this is the only reason you have for moving, you'd be better off booking lots of vacations, instead.

It's not the only reason. School and access to other things are partly factors. People mean well but I'm astonished someone would recommend finding a local pot dealer, or going where it's legal and bringing it home to where it isn't. I have way too much respect for the law; they'll put your butt in jail, even if they're friends. They're required to.

My concern is moving somewhere that has med (but not rec) and being told my degenerative osteoarthritis and peripheral neuropathy is not sufficient to qualify. I'd have moved but be in the same boat I am now--no legal access. This might happen, for example, if I moved to Tucson. Maybe Santa Fe, too.

I agree with you 100%. I too will not break the law for this issue. The arrest would be the start of your problems, having an arrest record for this could affect your future employment, volunteer or housing options. Itís so grotesquely unfair especially now where what is completely legal in one jurisdiction can cause catastrophic harm if arrested in another. And where it is only legal for medical could cost you the right to keep or buy guns if you tried to comply with state law.

The places where MJ is legal recreationally tend to be wealthier, better off states to begin with.

Gotcha. Glad to hear you have more than one reason for choosing to move. Personally, I wouldn't consider legalized marijuana a good enough reason to move, but YMMV. And maybe your other reasons are worth moving for. You're really the only one who knows what would work best for you, anyway.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried sneaking weed back across the state line? A person could take a yearly vacation, and stock up at the same time.
