Oh dear, poor OP is getting roasted for the frivolous posting which may have been facetious in nature!

Yes, it is silly, but I would rather read silly than some of the pompous, negative and positively mean spirited ripostes that I have read here periodically.

I hasten to add that the vast majority of postings are pleasurable and informative and hence, I am still lurking.

My sentiments exactly.

In addition, I guess we're supposed to think the OP is nuts, when others freely share that they've been following him around the board, and that [according to their notes ] he's a "strange bird." He's a strange bird?

When I read that thread title, I laughed my asinine off. Some sour and dour types simply have no sense of humor.

OP, That’s the problem, don’t eat salad, eat a real piece of steak where chewing is actually required. Much tastier, you can’t blend them easily. Find out the true reason why we had teeth in the first place.

I think OP was just going for a laugh. Why should every thread have to be serious?

I suppose if instead the OP had titled this thread:

“Gerontological challenges, possibly involving temporomandibular disorder; with the mastication of Lactuca ludoviciana.”

... It would be considered a viable topic in this forum? But it would likely have had “0” replies so far.

Q: Ever Thought Of Giving Up Chewing In Your Retirement Years?

A: Approximately as often as I've thought of giving up sex.

I first thought it was about chewing gum, I like to chew gum. It’s strengthened my jaws, keep the dentist away. That on top of eating an apple a day.
