5/30/19. Last day I have to show up at the office. Officially employed by them until 7/31 but am designated Time Off with Permission-Paid. Handing in all my gear, badge etc this afternoon. Feels a bit surreal. Awesome severance package makes it much more palpable. I have been lucky to always been able to decide myself when to change jobs and have never been unemployed for the last 39 years. Worked part time during last three years of college and all 4 years of high school and full time every summer. The impact of just NOT working unless I really want, is a strange feeling.

Congratulations on your retirement! Waking up on a Monday morning and knowing you do not have to go to work may seem strange for a while, but eventually you adjust!

Wishing you good health and adequate income!
