"Paul Kantner & Jefferson Starship" was first referenced in the credits for a concept album in 1970, when Airplane was on break. Then they became "official" in 1974.
I forgot to include them when listing the music in our first year dorm, 1975-76. "MIRACLES" from the Red Octopus album went to #3 on the charts, and played continuously from one of the rooms on our floor (the other side of hall from The Spinners!).
Thanks for the clarification. Miracles was one of our favorites. I hear that song and can pciture us sitting in the car with the 8 track blaring. Ah, good times.
Once my home gets renovated, I'd love to invite like minded people over who remember music from different years - have a 1976 night (for example) - nothing fancy - just come over - we can sit around and listen to the music of that year and talk about it.
People could just wear jeans. It would be about the music and have each person bring a memory - a picture, a story, something like that.

1976, especially that summer, was so memorable for me.
Our group had just graduated HS. We were all 18 and were able to use our "real birth certificates" to get into bars We spend that summer working our p/t jobs and spending it all on the weekends bar hopping with all that dancing music.
Could it get any better...18, money to spend and no summer reading lists hahaha
I met Donna Summer. She was as genuinely nice as could be. Her German boyfriend-artist had a studio in the back of the gallery.
She was a special lady who deserved every bit of her success.
Didn’t she have a fabulous voice? I loved her music. I don’t think she got the recognition she deserved, she was so much more than disco. My favorite is Heaven Knows.
Any one remember the Little River Band from Australia? And the Average White Band (i.e., Play that Funky Music)? I went to their concerts while in college. I do not remember the exact year, but it was around 1976-1977.
And Al Stewart was hitting it big about the same time with Year of the Cat.
Their debut Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! album wasn't released until 1978.
