Smile Having people over

Once my home gets renovated, I'd love to invite like minded people over who remember music from different years - have a 1976 night (for example) - nothing fancy - just come over - we can sit around and listen to the music of that year and talk about it.

People could just wear jeans. It would be about the music and have each person bring a memory - a picture, a story, something like that.

Kind of like a game night but music.

Do you think people would be interested?

That must have been chaotic!

Let's include the "Rubber Band Man." Good song.

Sorry. Something's wrong with my ability to post links right now.

1976, especially that summer, was so memorable for me.
Our group had just graduated HS. We were all 18 and were able to use our "real birth certificates" to get into bars We spend that summer working our p/t jobs and spending it all on the weekends bar hopping with all that dancing music.

Could it get any better...18, money to spend and no summer reading lists hahaha

She was a special lady who deserved every bit of her success.
Didn’t she have a fabulous voice? I loved her music. I don’t think she got the recognition she deserved, she was so much more than disco. My favorite is Heaven Knows.

Any one remember the Little River Band from Australia? And the Average White Band (i.e., Play that Funky Music)? I went to their concerts while in college. I do not remember the exact year, but it was around 1976-1977.

And Al Stewart was hitting it big about the same time with Year of the Cat.

This thread brings back a lot of good memories.

Personally, I would love it.

Missed a lot b/c I was working so much of my life. But the music was there and through that, I felt connected.

And, South Florida was finally getting some artists down here so very cool.

So many great memories in this thread.
All great music.
Can't say that today.

To veer away from music a bit but sticking to the topic.
(figures are average)

The year was 1976....

-mortgage rates were 9%
-CD rates were 10%
-price of a new home $50K
-min wage was $2.30/hour

Their anthem, recorded in 1976.

Their debut Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! album wasn't released until 1978.
