And the album this song came from spent 115 weeks on the Billboard 200. I was working in an art gallery in West Hollywood, a spinoff of Casablanca Records and Filmworks. Someone brought this CD in. I fell in love.

Ladies and gentlemen, Boz Scaggs.

.
I don't think someone brought you a CD in 1976 unless it was a certificate of deposit.

You're right. It was probably a cassette tape. Memory is tricky.

At the time, Neil Bogart was still the head of Casablanca Records, so it would have been the 1976-1979 timeframe. I remember this because when I asked for a raise in the art gallery, HR told me I had to get approval from Neil.

The album was released in 1976, though.

1976..had just graduated HS.
Looked up the top hits of 1976 and there's just too many to list a favorite.
They were all so good. Just reading the titles brought back a flood of memories.

If I had to pick it would be anything by KC and the Sunshine Band.
Was 18 and that's when the disco scene was big.

(now playing Shake your Booty in the background)

For Peter Frampton, who's facing a tough diagnosis. 1976 was his year.

in 1976 I was listening to mostly acoustic, especially folk music.

Still am.

1983.

The Philips player was worse than the Sony. The Sony used a 16bit DAC, Philips used a 14 bit, and because of the way it was designed, the left/right channels were never quite in sync. The Sony actually sounded quite good, which is why the CD format took off and eclipsed vinyl in just 4 years.
