Work injuries and last job related surgery ended my adult beverage life. Now, just flavored sparkling water from COSTCO or BJís.
Actually, donít miss it and have not thought about it until I saw the tread title.
Gave up smoking decades back. Donít miss that either.

I have only a couple of rules in my life but Rule #1: no daytime drinking unless it’s the very occasional social event or a weekend bbq. Otherwise it’s maybe 2 G&Ts or half bottle of wine once or maybe twice a week after the sun sets. I rarely have beer anymore unless I’m eating spicy food & I’ll have 1, occasionally 2, but very rare.

Sometimes I go for a couple of weeks without alcohol at all, it’s not important & thankfully I don’t have a problem with it. That said I’m currently ending a vacation in a wine region & have had alcohol, primarily wine, everyday except yesterday for 3 weeks. Back to Rule #1 tomorrow.

Not retired yet but hope to be by end of year....ish......

I do have a couple of Dust Busters in the evening. I think as one poster said, it is a way of dealing with the stress and frustration of a high stress job; and living / working in a overseas's not so nice location.

It would be rare for me to take a drink before noon, and it's usually afternoon on a hot day (cold beer) or at a dinner out (wine or beer). I only go for the hard stuff at a hosted event like a wedding.
