This was far more informational -- and FUN! -- than I ever thought it would be. Thank you all for your posts. I learned a lot.

Retire Early, Retire Often (Enjoy life / learning / experiences)

Retire while the kids are home... it is a VERY short time of your life... then POOF... it's GONE..o have many +/-
(Enjoy your kids while you have them)

Adoption?

varies. We have friends who have had +/- with 20 plus close friends or family having adopted. (international, US and all ages). Cousin has (5) adopted from (4) countries. There have plenty of challenges but VERY nice family and kids. Kids definitely have their WAYS (from years in Orphanage or abuse or independence (living on the street or in a disfunctional home).

Life... no instructions!

I'm going to reply, but I don't want to influence any way, so I'll post later on in the thread.

Well, I will reply, if just one other person posts.
My advice would be not to marry the 1st wife.

I often thought about that (in my case would be not to married my 1st husband). As much as being married to him was a living nightmare, it had taught me a lot. I am a much stronger person now because I had to deal with that. I honestly think that I would have not learned a lot of life's lessons if not for those awful 6 years.
