Just wondering what other people's experiences have been with betrayal.

I have been betrayed by (I am guessing - haven't actually counted) between 10-20 people.

Just had one happen today out-of-the-blue, so that's why it's on my mind, and just wondering how "normal" betrayal is.

I am astounded every time someone asks for definitions of common words. I am pretty sure you know what the word means. If, by some strange fluke, you don't (and that would be REALLY WEIRD), then you can always google the dictionary definitions.

Here is more of a discussion of examples of betrayal:

I can say once and it was my ex, I guess, but over the years it was the best thing he could have done, left me for the woman who took care of him until he died about 5 yrs ago. For me a whole new life opened up for me and I grabbed it all...Never married again. Friends come and go and I don't consider those betrayals.

Wow! I’ve never been betrayed, at least to my knowledge. Are you just extra sensitive? Maybe they weren’t really betraying you-maybe just trying to help? Not sure what kind of betrayal you have had. Of course most of us understand the meaning of the word- but if you refuse to give your example, it is impossible to understand why you may have been betrayed in the first place.

In my opinion “betrayal” is abnormal.

When I order a Whopper, it never looks like the picture on the menu. How seriously does a betrayal have to impact my life order to count?

Yes, I am extra sensitive AND I have had a lot of legitimate betrayals! Family, friends, etc., etc.

Never. And I'm old enough to have had numerous experiences where that could have happened in various facets of my life. Betrayal is an active verb... I've been disappointed in people and lied to on rare occasions but nothing that feels like an intentional and purposeful betrayal. Betrayal is a matter of expectations, relationships, actions, confidences, perceptions, and sometimes risk.
