While perusing this forum I often get the impression that the majority here have (or will have) some kind of 401K and/or pension plan for retirement income although recent statistics have shown that less than 50% of Americans fall into that category. So I'm curious about how that breaks down here in the Retirement forum specifically.

For purposes of this poll I'm not asking about IRAs because those aren't employer-dependent; only about retirement income vehicles that originated with your employer(s.)

I'm in the third category which means my only source of income is my SS benefit plus RMDs from an IRA from less than 20 years of employment during the "IRA Era."

I have one from the state but it's miniscule. Hardly worth it but am glad I have it.

None of the above.

But on this forum, most appear to have multiple revenue streams. Good planners!

We each have a small pension, deferred compensation and both our SS is tiny because of WEP.

The people with no sort of investments at all and zero/negligible savings will basically have to cobble together what they can from SS, any other government benefits they're eligible for, some work, and private charity.

We had a talk with our Self employed daughter recently, she has no 401k. Just Roth IRA, and one small SEP IRA. The minute she gets a bonus, it’s going to go into investing, except some small amount for her free spending.

I have an IRA. DH has an IRA and a mediocre pension. We're both disabled and receiving SSDI.

I had been self employed for most of my career, and made different retirement arrangements (annuities and SEP-IRA), so I checked on "never had 401k", although I technically do have a very small pension from somewhere where I worked part time for 3 years before I was even working in my main profession (I think it contains something like $6,000 total).
