...there is no answer ....we all draw our lines in the sand in different locations and set the minimum standards we personally set for our individual lifestyles and amounts we have .
It is like asking how much do you need or want while working and trying to get one answer for the entire country ......there is no answer .... we all take what we have , back in to it and make it work
Even that is a bad way because our individual budgets can consist of far more spending then expenses ....there is lots of emergency and unplanned spending as well as most discretionary spending is not a fixed expense ..it is how we spend and enjoy the money left over after many of the fixed expenses.
Guaranteed if everyone here got an extra 25k and had the stipulation they had to spend it ,most of us would have no problem spending it or elevating that life style line in the sand.
Everyone of us can cheapen anything we do ....we may choose not to but most of what we call our lifestyle is all personal choices
Ha ha ha , I would never have retired if all I had was 3600 a month here...
I would be living in the hood
The question though was about the average person. I don't think you qualify as the average retiree. This discussion isn't really about how you personally would be living.....just saying. I'm not trying to be snarky, just realistic.
