I could do a 12 hour with no issues. I love plane trips.
It's really kinda nice having an "enforced" nothing to do. Great excuse to binge read.

You step over people even in business class seats.
The new Club World seats will eliminate that problem on BA, although the new design will be rolled out slowly, route by route. The new business product will have direct aisle access for every seat.
For me, it'd have to do with the seat, no matter where I am. Most of the time, I'm ok. However, this past weekend, I was sitting in this chair at a bar. First time I noticed this issue in quite a while. My left leg kinda went numb. We left that seating area for a tabled area. Numbness went away. Some might say, it was the heigth, but I've sat at bar seats before without that happening.
Also, desk chair at work, I've had the leg go numb a few times. So, given that it's lower than a bar chair. Maybe it was positioned differently. I know someone will probably remark that it's crazy if it was my work desk chair and you [meaning me, in this case] would/should know or get used to your chair seat. Well, often times, especially when we are out of the office for any time, our chairs get "borrowed" when there are big meetings in the conference room adjacent to my desk. I've had short people and really tall people adjusting my chair on a few occasions. I've even had to go search for my chair because it was misplaced during one of those meetings. Ive heard some airlines have redone the seats. I haven't been on a plane in years. Maybe it would have to do with the padding, the position and/or length of time I need to stay seated? So for me, I can't say for sure what the length of time would be.
Just wondering if sitting on a plane is difficult for you or if you haven't noticed any difference in your travels with age.
I don't like flying for more than five or six hours, which is a problem because I want to go to Europe and I would love to go back to Asia, but I am not going to sit for that long.
The European trip might work if I take a red-eye and can sleep all night (not sure if this is possible).
What about you?
I'm not even 40 yet, and I'm thin and active, with no health issues, and I thought my hips were going to give out sitting on my last 12 hour flights. It is rough!

We get comfort plus seating. An extra 3" of leg room. For me it's the difference between night and day.
In economy I have problems standing up after a 3 hour flight. In comfort plus, since I can stretch my legs out under the seat in front of me, I was fine after a 10 1/2 hour flight. Two more tests this fall. Minneapolis to Paris.
6'-2" Polio in my right leg that is not visually discernible, but is a factor.
Haven’t flown in four years; we were Snowbirds back and forth from NE to FL, .5 mg Zanex
and off we go, didn’t care for the hustle and bustle, prolly never fly again.
Can you say more about what you enjoyed about a cruise ship over the ocean? For some reason (dirty carpets, claustrophobia) cruise ships sound horrible to me.
We have done four transatlantic cruises, it takes care of the problem of arriving in Europe jet lagged.
Lots of time to read and meet people. It takes a couple of weeks and is great for retirees who like the economy of shoulder season travel.
I can't sit still on a plane for long. My "recovery time" takes too long now. I fantasize about finding [and most importantly, having the money for] a Transatlantic cruise from the states to Europe. Then, I would love to spend a few weeks hiking and hosteling myself around a few countries, and then return via a Transatlantic cruise from somewhere in Europe back to the United States.
As long as I am living in paradise anyway, I am content with only fantasizing about it, and having no worries about feeling the effects of a long plane ride or road trip.
I do the 2 hours every Christmas from Burbank CA to Portland OR and almost hate it. I get motion sick so cant read. I just sit there bored to death. I can't imagine a long flight.
If you can afford the best seats, do so. It's one of our splurges on flights over 2 hours. It makes all the difference in the world being able to lay flat and really relax.
