I'm already short...so no I do not want to be downsized. My bank account already is downsized.
My gas tank....same way.
Only thing growing is the bill pile. Would enjoy that pile gone.

YES! All the admin types were able to take a government buy-out (25k) but ME. My boss said it wasn't in the cards for me. I was working way above my pay-grade and she knew she had a good deal with me.

I quickly started applying for jobs in my home state, was seleted for one with a fully paid relocation package.

I told my boss that it may not have been in the cards for ME to get a buy-out, when everyone else got one, but I dealt myself a new hand and I was now playing it. OMdear Jesus she was pissed.

I was out of there in three weeks and off to my new "retirement" job. I figure my paid PCS was worth no less than 15K, with moving expenses, temporary quarters, storage, mileage and new house closing costs. I worked at the new job for 2.5 years and retired as soon as I could. Really appreciated the gubbmint paying for me to return to my home state and retire

Sort of a "Rocky" moment for me when I told her those words.

I know a man who prayed for it, got it, and then lived too long.
The phone company downsized in around 1995. He took a buyout and forfeited his pension. He thought it was a good deal and the money would last forever.
Alas, the DotCom bubble burst and the mortgage crisis came while he still had to draw money out. He worked a little, but the money is now all gone. Social Security is decreased because of the years he did not work. He's about 80, now.

You gotta be careful, out there.
