After reading various threads I was so worried about getting this shot. It sounded like the side effects were terrible. I was even making plans not to go to work etc. I had the shot and had no reaction at all except my arm was sore for a couple of days.

I had no wait time for the first shot, it was ages ago. But then they ran out and I got worried. It was months later that I was finally able to get the second dose. Probably that"s the recommended time frame so I worried needlessly. Reaction to the second shot but I hope I never get shingles.

I actually tried to get the vaccine around the time I turned 50 but they wouldn't give it. I wasn't old enough they said. I then got shingles a year later. I haven't tried to get the vaccine yet because I'm on the fence.

Someone mentioned they had a script from their doctor. Is a script needed?

I did not need a script. I use the pharmacy at a well-known large grocery store here in central NY and I asked the pharmacist if she would give me the shot. She did, no problem. But told me I would need to get 2nd shot within 6 months from first shot.

I had no reaction (I must be a tough old bird).

I am curious what sort of wait times people are seeing for Shingrix.

I did not have to wait for my shot. I received it the same day I asked about it at my pharmacy.

Shingles is a horrible thing. I am sorry to hear about your friend and his loss of vision.

Yes. 4 days of aching bones, feverish, malaise with first shot. About half that time with 2nd shot.

What about Shingrex availability? Where I live, in a rural area in SW NH, neither my health care provider, a small community hospital, or the local CVS or Rite-Aid have it, and only get it sporadically. Odd because there's a lot of seniors in the area.

I haven't had the vaccine yet, but my coworker and his wife did. Both felt fine after the first. The second one had them feeling like they had the flu, fever and all.

I do hope everyone getting the shot has actually had chicken pox. Because if you haven't there isnt any need to.
