I think I've been reading a lot of fairy tales on these replies.

Why is it men think intimacy is S e x and Women think it is the closeness and love that comes before during and after s e x? That's where the real problem lies.

That and health problems.

If I were any closer to my wife during sex, I'd be behind her!

Same here! I would enjoy a lot of intimacy like cuddles, hold hands, spooky sleeping but not sex. Maybe once or twice in special situations .

describing an asexual person as someone with a 'problem that needs to be addressed' is no more correct than making that same statement about someone who is homosexual. (of course there are people who do feel that way about homosexuals, unfortunately, but just making the point that asexual persons don't need to be "fixed" any more than homosexuals do. Which is, not at all.)

It's important to me but not my wife. Her mother was the same. Her husband made other arrangements as have I.

You and your wife still together? Is she aware of your arrangement?

Wow, that 50 mark hits home for me. That was the year my late husband and I were supposed to ride our Harleys, yes I had my own, to Sturgis. That was the year he died and my life effectively ended. Sex with him was the best I ever had. That was 18yrs ago, the morning of his death was the last time for me. Lack of a partner who could possibly measure up in any dept rather than interest is the reason. I did try once to find someone, but was treated so poorly that one time, I gave up looking. I tried taking care of my own needs, but it only caused me emotional pain, so gave that up too. I am still deeply in love with someone who is gone. Them cowboy boots were just too big to fill.

Female here. I'm VERY happy to be in a relationship with both! I'd definitely feel the lack if I had either without the other.
