Default That Thing You Do! written/directed by Tom Hanks

That Thing You Do! (1996) is a perfect movie for almost anyone, any age. It was made before 2000, but definitely worth watching if you have never seen it. It is a sweet, charming story set in the 1960s about a one-hit wonder band from Erie PA.

Great music, great sets, superior story. Winsome cast. Highly recommended!

"The Gods Must Be Crazy." The funniest comedy I have ever seen.
"Mr. Holland's Opus." A beautiful musical romance.

And of course, "Downton Abbey" opens in theaters on Sept. 20. If you followed the BBC series, it's a must-see.

Not all of these were made after 2000, but they are all movies that definitely make me feel good, and I'd be happy to watch any one of them just about any time.

Brooklyn
Love Actually
Invictus
Lars and the Real Girl
Legally Blonde
My Cousin Vinny
The Sting
Moonstruck

We just saw 2 movies I would recommend -- WILD ROSE (although you will need to put the captions on because of the Scottish accents) and PEANUT BUTTER FALCON. Very different but very good.

Also try The Station Agent -- offbeat but wonderful.
