Of course we all know that to Forrest Gump life is like a box of chocolates. But I saw a funny comparison on another thread here about life and toilet paper.

Here is your chance to dust off your favorite aphorisms about what life is like....

Don't know if the following are the kinds of things you're looking for, but:

1. By the time you have things figured out as to what would give you the most enjoyment and satisfaction out of your life, you then also realize that it is mostly too late to take advantage of that knowledge.

2. "Youth is wasted on the wrong people." (It's a Wonderful Life)

3. For many people, life is wasted on too many regrets and too much worry.

I've never read this one anywhere, but to me...

Life is like dining at a buffet. Everyone chooses differently. Some are gluttons and take a lot of everything and waste half of it. Some make careful and considered choices based upon their dietary needs and preferences. Others, like my old co-worker George, will pick one thing and eat tons of that one thing and never even try other stuff (George's thing was PILES of fried chicken). Others will opt to try a little of everything, and then go back for more of those things they like the best. Some will just decide they don't care for the price of admission, or they're certain they will never get their money's worth, so they just don't even enter the building. Some will come away satisfied, others will say they've eaten way too much then they'll be miserable, and still others will complain that everything was too greasy, or salty, and people were pushy and on and on....
