I spent it driving a Plymouth trunk-ful from Kentucky to Louisiana to start a new job. Long, long time ago -- 1959.. Didn't think too much about it being my birthday.

No recollection of my 21st as it was just another birthday.

Drinking age / voting happened at 18 years old and drivers license was at 17 years old. Ah, good times!

Same for me. I remember 18 because the drinking age was 18. 21 wasn't an important birthday. For me, drivers license was 16 1/2.

I was at my girlfriend's house, and did my best to down a fifth of 12 year old scotch. I didn't end up making a big dent in the bottle but still got pretty tipsy. No, I didn't drive home, they let me sleep on the couch. Oh, and before bed I got a very stern warning from her father.

I was in college and drinking age was 21 so it was an exciting birthday. A group of male and female friends took me to dinner and then out to a nightclub to go country dancing.

I was on the US Coast Guard cutter Mendota escorting an old liberty ship full of nerve gas that was taken out into the Atlantic and scuttled.
