I wake up when I wake up. Usually no later than 8am though. This morning I woke up at 6, there was a bear staring in my bedroom window.

I, too, worked the night shift for too many years, and I decided to go all out this summer, and sleep away the heat of the day, getting up around 7-8-9pm, yes, going to bed around 10-11am. And now that summer has ended, I'm having a helluva time turning it around. Gee whiz! It's now 9:30am and I was trying hard to get to bed by 6am. Oh well! I do miss the Bingo games at 1:30pm on Tuesdays in my senior mobile home park.

Blessedly, I have a neighbor, 3 doors down, who worked the night shift for 30 years, but she's more disciplined than I am, and she hits the sack around 5am.

We get up at different times, depending on the day of the week and what is going on. If there is a need to be somewhere, say, at 9:00 Am, we get up early to accommodate that.

Having health issues, we also do occasionally take afternoon naps, if tired.

Sunrise or a little before. My body is set for these hours and I can't turn it off.

I usually go to sleep around 9 or 10 pm. Even if I stay up to the wee hours of the morning, I get up no later than 7am, and that sucks.

One problem I have with sleeping until noon is that
when I travel or when friends visit it is hard to adjust.
Also service people and slow-learning friends still
call at 9 am. I can't get past the feeling that I have
wasted 1/2 my day either.

And the late-night hours are usually wasted watching tv instead
of some fun activity I could be doing in the morning.

I've always been an early riser, so any sleep beyond 5 am is a bonus. I usually go to bed between 10 and 10:30 pm. I almost always wake up between 2 and 3 in the morning and fall back asleep after a while. If I get more then 6 hours of sleep, that's a real bonus.

I always say nothing productive is being done after 8 pm. I know there are exceptions, but in generally holds true.

True for me now.
But in my earlier years I knocked out many a project
after midnight.

I try to go to sleep around 11:30pm and get 7 to 8 hours of sleep. If I go to sleep later than that, I don't feel great the next day - and it's hard to stay asleep past 7:30am, even with a sleep mask. I'd prefer to get on an 11pm-7am sleep schedule but it's hard disciplining myself to do so.

I've become a big proponent of the afternoon nap!
