My OH is still working, but I am medically retired, though periodically I do work.

20 years ago I was a night person, as was my OH, until a job required my OH to be at work at 6 am.
My OH takes time to get up, have coffee and catch some news for an hour, and an hour for shower/get ready, and an hour to get to work... with allowance for NY weather.

So I have gotten in the habit of getting up at 3am, and found I ENJOY getting up early, and after 15 years, don't think that will change!

I actually enjoy watching the sun come up!

I'm retired and could sleep anytime, but now prefer to get up early.

I think this trend will continue even after my OH fully retires .

If we go anywhere, getting on the road at 4 am also allows us to cover ground before the morning rush hour, and we'd have been further along and can often avoid the "noon" rush to. So it has that benefit, too.

So how early do you rise??

Whenever I feel like it.

We moved a time zone West last December - from Utah to California...and the adjustment to waking up at 4:45AM instead of 5:30AM was really hard. Our dogs stir at that time every day and make it impossible to sleep in.

I just realized that we “FALL BACK” with our clocks on November 3.

I don’t know that I will survive that. Maybe I will go to bed at 8PM

What would happen if you stayed up later and kept the dogs up later.
Wouldn't that help everyone sleep later??

I have always had a hard time getting to sleep so getting up too early has never been a problem.

Well - as I type - they are both (a corgi and a golden) snoring on the bed and it’s 5:50PM. I don’t have the energy to keep them up.

My husband is still working, and I get up with him at 7:00. I feel like I need to impose some structure on my day. (I've only been retired for three months, so perhaps that will change.) I walk the dog then, which buys my husband about 15 minutes he wouldn't otherwise have. This actually feels luxurious to us, because when we both were working we used to get up at 6:00.

I'm retired from teaching but do some tutoring. Occasionally I have to get up earlier, but usually I get up around 9:30 or a little later. DH is completely retired and sets his alarm for 7:30. He stops being quiet around 9:30.

our sleep schedules are pretty consistent now that we are retired. they are much more consistent than when we were working.

My internal clock is naturally set at early to bed, early to rise. I go to bed at 10pm and naturally wake up around 6am.

my spouse also goes to bed at 10pm, but wakes at 8am. he needs more sleep than I do.
