From what I read, it is still illegal but the gov. has decided to turn a blind eye on it for now.
Well, I could deal with "illegal" as long as there is no punishment for it. Honestly, if my insurance company hadn't paid a huge portion of meds I've used in the past, I probably would've left them lay at the pharmacy. I was fortunate cause it was nothing I had to stay on for life, but still~the prices are insane.

And you aren't butting in at all. I enjoyed your input.

All I can say is that I'd better get informed. DH will need this type of info in a bit over two years and the only thing that's familiar to me is that it's terms I've heard. I'm actually several years away from medicare and my knowledge about this is extremely limited.

From what i have seen the AArp or any medicare prescription drug programis worth about waht is paid for it really. Coparing it to any empoyer plan means you have to see the actaully total cost of that plan ;not just what the employee pays. I the end my mother-in-law gets quite abit od=f benefit for what she pays even witrh teh hole. But any plan involving people over 64 that use so much of the presecritions in thsi country is going to either cost a heck of alot or be limited. If a employer only had these ages in their plan they would go broke paying the cost of drugs alone.

AARP uses United Health Care for some plans...I found the Essential Premier policy to be very affordable (for me) and pretty much covers what I will need. I am still researching, though. The Essential Plus policy is not so well spoken of.

I have the supplemental health insurance with them but regular healtcare isn't in NJ I believe. I pay for Cobra and when I go on my own, then I have to find something within reason if AARP does not offer anything.
