I retired today with 34 years as a law enforcement officer. It felt odd to have a 2 hour lunch today with a beer and not be in a hurry to go anywhere. The first thing I did was throw my alarm clock away. Very strange feeling. Oh I'm 57 by the way. I plan to travel, travel, and travel some more. I want to see this country.

Yahoo for you jim9251! Sounds like you had a great start to your new adventures. I love the throwing away the alarm clock part.

I have to admit it was odd a bit of an odd feeling that today was the day I'd planned to be my first day of retirement ...but that changed late last week...at least for a while. I did think about how crazy I was when my alarm went off this morning, however

Congratulations Jim9251. Enjoy your retirement. My brother retired from law enforcement about 7 years ago. He was around your age with about the same years in. He hasn't looked back -- he loves it!

Im right behind you. This is the second day of the last month I will work for money. Well, I'm off to the mines ......

Congratulations Jim9251! Sounds like you have a plan. 6 more months for me. My boss put in his papers this week for a 10/2 departure.

Thanks yall. I have a Mustang convertible and I'm single so I want to just drive around the country. I'm going to move to Colorado next summer (will rent or lease), a friend who is Vietnamese is taking me to Vietnam next year and I'm traveling to Italy in two years. I'll be ok, I'm taking home only $200.00 a month less than I did working and in 90 days will get a six figure annuity payout. I'll also get a 3% cost of living raise every year. Thank you taxpayers! I'm being paid not to come to work, this is so cool!
