Cell phone discount
EVEN IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A CELL PHONE -- GET A DISCOUNT!
Cell phone providers (Verizon, AT&T, Cricket, Sprint, US Cellular, T-Mobile, Nextel, Alltel, etc.) can use a Foundation Account Number ( FAN) to give a discount to people who work, to active military plus Dept of Veterans Affairs employees or those with an AARP membership!
Stay with me on this.... AARP costs about $16 a year--(cheaper if you get it for longer than 1 yr) to can get you a 20% discount on your cell phone bill. On a $50 cell monthly bill that is $120 savings a year. After the cost of the AARP card you save $104 a year!
HERE IS HOW. (Example given is for AT&T. All others contact your cell phone provider for the FAN discount procedure and ask if they give discounts for AARP.) If you are: - age 50 and over: $16 AARP membership covers both you and your spouse or partner.
- under age 50: you will need to be on the AARP membership of someone who is age 50 (parent, spouse, partner, etc) (In other words, you might have to buy a $16 AARP membership for your parent if they don't have one, in order to get a nice cell phone discount--but that way you can both get a cell phone discount....even if you don't use the same cell phone provider.)
If you have an AARP membership, simply go to the AT&T Corporate store with your AARP card and get the discount.
If you don't yet have an AARP membership-AARP membership application call toll-free, 1-888-687-2277, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 12 midnight EST
After you have it go to an AT&T CORPORATE store to show ID and the AARP ID, in order to get your discount applied. Call before going, as the stores may change hours or locations.

Does anyone know whether it's safe (legally) to create your own will and revocable trust without the services of a lawyer? Has anyone done so?

My late mom paid a huge amount for her trust to be set up by an atty. Her atty had someone in his office plug in the info and it printed out. He did not sign it anywhere as an atty. It was signed by him and his legal secretary as witnesses!!!! (The only other thing they did and this is what it tells you in Suze's info is filed the papers at the courthouse that changed it from my mom's name to show it was now Her name Trust.)
My sister worked for attys and she said this is common practice on how it is done. So, I have no idea why in the world we are paying them a small fortune to do this for us!
