Default Possible $$ owed you to help with retirement plans...

Talk about retirement dreams....OK...if this had not just come from my mom I would NEVER believe it....but everyone should check out this site:

Texas Unclaimed Property

if you are not from TX, there is a link on this for a search of all the US

NAUPA

for unclaimed money. Dad died in 1975, mom sold the house and has lived with us kids ever since. Somehow my sister heard about this site, ran a check on mom and there was her name, with the old homestead address. Long story short, some Life Ins something that could not been worth much at all just sent her a check from the state of Texas for $2513.91!!! Of course, this had sat around for 30 some years and she got the intereste off of it, but needless to say I have one VERY happy 82 yr old on my hands!

It is free and worth the shot...cheaper than a lotto ticket, right??

Good luck all, hope you find your little windfall here as well. Please post success stories...fun to hear about for sure!

I once googled my own name and found $256.00 that had supposedly been unclaimed in a bank in the very next town. My name and address were always in the phone book. It was a nice surprise.

I found $600 for my father in law and he collected it.

Long story, but once in a job I had, we found $2.5 million for a woman whose husband had died and not told her he bought zero coupon bonds. Half of them ended up in unclaimed property and half were waiting to be collected.

Let's see, the State of Texas is holding 5 cents for my daughter. I can't figure out why she hasn't made the effort to collect it

OTOH, it looks like my deceased Aunt is owed somewhere between $500 and $1000 or more. Guess I should let my father know part of her estate is still out there. I wonder how many years Texas holds on to unclaimed funds.
