There is one noticeable advantage of CO over TN, in my opinion anyway: no humidity! Colorado has such nice dry weather. With the exception
of the real blizzards that dump several inches of snow per hour; growing up we just cleared our snowy walks with a push broom.
Here in the east, the humidity makes the snow (or more often, ice!) harder to remove.

But NO ice storms. Summers average in the 80's nights in the 50's and 60's cold in the winter, that's ok with me. I like the cold. The air has that crisp mountain smell to it. The last thing I would want when I re-locate.
( I believe annual snowfall was the reason I scratched Flagstaff AZ from my list also)

Have you spent a full winter there yet ?

It looks beautiful. What do you plan to do with your life in retirement?

Nope this will be my first winter. I like the cold and snow, don't bother me at all. Looking forward to it. At least there's no ice storms.

Life after retirement...I plan to wander around, goof off, read, volunteer. I'll NEVER put on a gun again.

You left "God's country"...for that??

Climate: Arkansas enjoys the four seasons in moderation, and the longer spring and fall seasons provide a mild climate. January average temperatures range from 35° to 4° F; the average temperature in July is 81° F. The annual relative humidity averages 57 percent. Arkansas receives approximately 44 to 54 inches of rainfall annually, while the capital city of Little Rock receives less than 4 inches of annual frozen precipitation. Average yearly precipitation for Arkansas, from 1971 to 2000, is shown on this chart from Oregon State University.

Hey, I love Missouri, strongly considered moving there, but I can certainly see where it's not for everybody.
The OP is already familiar with MO. I can see wanting to experience living in a new environment. From the pictures he posted it's a lovely area that looks to offer a lot of outdoor recreation. Personally I don't think I would want that much snow, but a lot of other people seem to enjoy it.

Plus, you are not so far from Arkansas....you can easily visit when you like.
Though from your pics; looks like you will be the one with visitors!

Based on that, you made a wise choice. Who'd want to live like that day after day? Even without the thugs, you still made a wise choice!
