TN is another spot I began thinking about also. Great cost of living and there's something about the people there that intrique me. It's a toss - CO is in the lead one day and TN another. Both beautiful and I always said, if I can't have an ocean, I'll take a mountain!!
There is one noticeable advantage of CO over TN, in my opinion anyway: no humidity! Colorado has such nice dry weather. With the exception
of the real blizzards that dump several inches of snow per hour; growing up we just cleared our snowy walks with a push broom.
Here in the east, the humidity makes the snow (or more often, ice!) harder to remove.
Housing prices are in the mid $400's, higher than NW Arkansas, rentals about the same, gas is 10 cents a gallon higher, food is cheaper. 84" of snow a year, what I'm told it's a dry powder snow, and it's usually cleared off the streets by the next morning and sunny. But NO ice storms. Summers average in the 80's nights in the 50's and 60's cold in the winter, that's ok with me. I like the cold. The air has that crisp mountain smell to it. Hey, I love Missouri, strongly considered moving there, but I can certainly see where it's not for everybody.
The OP is already familiar with MO. I can see wanting to experience living in a new environment. From the pictures he posted it's a lovely area that looks to offer a lot of outdoor recreation. Personally I don't think I would want that much snow, but a lot of other people seem to enjoy it.
