Hobbies and interests in retirement
I'm sure this was posted somewhere but I haven't found it. So I'm wondering what everyone else plans to do or is doing in retirment. I'm amazed by people who say they dread retirement because they'll be bored! I realize many things are expensive when you're on a limited income, but there are also many which are cheap or free.
My interests are:
reading
learning history, specifically local history, general Celtic, Scottish, Irish
photography
writing, blogging
genealogy
studying/practicing buddhism
bicycling, kayaking, canoeing, hiking
travel
many things on the internet

The beauty of retirement is that you'll have more time to devote to your hobbies and interests that you may have already developed since much younger while having more time to discover new interests.

I have too many hobby possibilities. First and most important, my wife and I will get a camper and spend a lot of time travelling. We are even considering doing this fulltime for a few years. Photography has become a serious hobby and since I shoot mostly landscape and nature, there is a strong connection to the travel. We may eventually do some semi-pro endevours including selling, running tours and classes, etc. I still do 3d traditional archery although I have not had the time and my competitive skills are sliding. I used to do fishing but have not had time for a couple of years - due to photography. I also formerly did competitive blackpowder. I would love to have the time for my old hobbies plus my new ones plus others not yet discovered. Even in retirement I don't expect to have enough time for a fraction of the things I want to do.

I doubt I'll have time for all my hobbies (especially if I can't pull myself away from forums!). I forgot to add that I also want to learn French. I'm newly retired (unless you count my 2 years in Uganda as a housewife and occasional tutor on computers).

I don't have time for posting photos online, but you probably have noticed there is a photography forum. Of course, there are also lots of other opportunities, including DPreview, the Fred Miranda forum, and of course, stock such as alamy and istockphoto.
