Good for you. Just stay busy with things you always wanted to do.
It won't be long before you wonder how you ever found the time to hold down a full time job.
Enjoy.

Congrats MMofB. I've enjoyed following your journey towards retirement here and on the vegas board. Good to see a plan come together so well.

Congrats Madman(of Las Vegas!). I've read your posts with interest and I am thrilled for you that you are "working" your plan for retirement and relocation. Best wishes for a successful retirement.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. And thanks, Lakewooder, for the poker analogy.
Speaking of poker....
I just returned home from a very profitable session at the Orleans casino where I won $823 in just over two hours of 1/2 NL. That's been my biggest win ever in any one session of 1/2. I was actually up a little over $1k before donking off a couple of hundred on draws that didn't pan out after determining that I had implied odds to make the calls. I decided to get up and call it a night while I still felt good about my play.
Not only am I winning money at the tables so far, but the casinos actually pay you to play at certain times of the day. For example, the Hard Rock Hotel has a promotion going called "4 for $40." If you play poker in their poker room for 4 hours anytime between midnight and 8:00am, they pay you $40, the catch being that you have to come back between 4pm - 8pm to collect it. They also give you cash depending upon how many hours you play during the month. It's $100 for every 50 hours. On top of that, you earn $1/hr towards free food while you're playing as well. Of course, this is all above and beyond whatever money you actually win while playing poker. (Assuming you win, of course.)
"Retirement" could turn out to be very profitable.

We stay at the Orleans all the time. Big, comfy rooms for cheap, good food, and hockey games and shows in the arena. Vegas is a retirement dream. So many deals to be had on rooms, food, gambling. If you haven't tried it, go to McMullen's pub across the street (not Brenden's in the Orleans). Great food (Irish Nachos, Bangers and Mash and Fish and Chips to die for) and lots of great Beers on tap. They have entertainment and games too. Our fav is the pub quiz on Tuesday nights.
I go to Vegas for work once or twice a month, but that stops in July when I retire. One of the few things I will miss as I go with guys from work that are also friends. I may travel down to meet them once in a while.
Glad you are enjoying and winning.
