South Kingstown villages/neighborhoods & elementary schools (Narragansett, Charlestown: college, taxes)

Hi,

I was wondering about the differences between the South Kingstown villages/neighborhoods (Kingston, Peacedale, Wakefield, Matunuck, etc.). I know Kingston is where URI is, Matunuck near the beach, etc, but I'm looking for detail on the differences - the types of people/vibe/which areas are best for families. Also, same on the elementary schools -which is regarded the best? I can't find an elementary school comparison for RI online. Thanks!

I'm a realtor. I would suggest Narragansett. Very low taxes, good schools, and wonderful amenities. Downside is summer traffic.
Wakefield has some tough spots, more like a small city with lots of activity.
Charlestown is more rural feel and less activity.

Look at RT4 on the map, this is how you get North to South in the area. Again summer is tough moving around.

I live in South Kingstown. Peacedale is urban and the most run down. Wakefield is urban but has nice neighborhoods. Snug Harbor is a little fishing village, very quaint. Matunuck is nice and has the beach vibe going. Our neighbors' kids go to Matunuck Elementary and they like it. Nice school, it is where we vote. Kingston is a college village, that's where URI is. Perryville is rural and another quaint village.

Do take a look at the emergency evacuation map in town hall before you buy. East Matunuck, Matunuck, Snug Harbor are all in hurricane flood zones and we are due for a big one.

I wouldn't put all of Peace Dale in a rundown category. You are totally discounting The Oaks.
