Cumberland schools? Good, bad, ugly? I know there have been some issues in the past, but now that the superintendent is gone, are things better?
We are moving SOMEWHERE from Cranston, cannot afford East Greenwich (where I really would love to be) or Lincoln.
I work in Providence, husband in North Smithfield.
I like the feel of Cumberland, but want to make sure we aren't getting ourselves into a bad situation, we have two young children who would both be going through the public school system.
Really? No one has any idea about the Cumberland school system?
I have tried to look it up online but am having a hard time finding updated info.
Please help!
We want to put an offer in on a house but the school system is now the deciding factor.
Having lived and worked in Cumberland for most of my life, and my girls went to Cumberland public schools (at first, Mercymount until the 4th or 5th grades), it is a fine school system. No problems. Kids will be kids, nothing is perfect. I do miss living in Cumberland! Best of luck to you. Contact me privately if you wish.
I live right around the corner fro cumberland and there are some beautiful neighborhoods there. The school system can be great if you are involved in your childs education. There are definitely some rough parts with some troubled kids, but that is anywhere. Good Luck!
Thanks so much! I get a good vibe from the area and it's close to Providence, where I work and to N. Smithfield where my husband works.
The housing market there seems mediocre - it's hard to find exactly what we want (working with a realtor) but once we do, I feel as though we'll get some bang for our buck. Hopefully.
