Originally we plan to go to Washtington DC for cherry blossom festival in April, but we can't really go that far this time, I'm wondering if there is any one-day trip suggestion to see some flowers? After a long winter, really want to see the colors and breathe the fresh air.

Thanks.

(I posted the same thread on Boston board as well to get better ideas, hopefully not against any rule here. )

It will be another month at least until spring has truly sprung, but when it does you could go to Arnold Arboretum in Boston, can't really think of a more ideal place. Here in RI there is Blythwold Gardens, and I think Bellevue Ave and the mansions area in Newport is fantantasic when the trees are in bloom.

Thank you Saltatrix!

Visting Mansions is one of the things to do on our list, with your suggestion, we may go there in spring, intead of summer when it's getting too many visitors. We will check Blythwold Gardens and Arnold Arboretum as well. Thanks again!

Default May flowers

Mt Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge is an arboretum of sorts, beautiful trees. I concur that Arnold Arboretum is a great nature place. The public gardens in Boston are lovely at tulip time.

The best , least crowded tomes to travel are in May, June, September and October. Mid-June is especially good, fine weather, roses blooming in much of the state as well as other flowers. Have fun.
