Question planning ahead

Hi everyone,

My family and I, wife and 2 children, ages 4 & 8, are planning a move to RI next summer. I plan on attending school for nursing, and my wife wants to get her realestate liscence. We are planning on renting for 4 or 5 years, and then buying a multi unit property, preferably 3 - 3br(victorian would be great!!). We are thinking about Warwick or West Warwick. We don't want to be in Providence, because of the schools for our children, but we are hopeing to buy for under $300k when we do. Is West Warwick up and coming? We are moving from Sarasota, FL. Our move will put us closer to our Families in PA, but not too close if you know what I mean. Any advice on areas would be greatly appreciated. Are their any areas that we should consider that we are missing? My wife wants to be relatively close to the water. "Think beach."

Close to the water and under 300k is not easy I fear. Why did you choose Warwick? For the schools? What's your first priority? The 300k pricetag? Might make it easier to give you a better answer. I would definitely try to check out South County, too. You'll be close to the URI main campus, closer to the water and schools are decent I think. Of course it might be difficult to find something in your pricerange. :/

Hi - if I read right, you are looking to buy for 300k...in 4 or 5 years? I think it would be very difficult to find that NOW, nevermind in 4 or 5 years.

I would recommend Warwick over West Warwick due to schools and general location - I can't imagine West Warwick described as "up and coming". However, if you want to be closer to the beach, I would recommend either the North Kingstown or Narragansett area (over South Kingstown as far as schools are concerned). You will have a very easy commute to URI (if that's where you want to go) and the realty market is always fairly busy in southern Rhode Island due to the summer market.

HTH.
