Hey everyone. I am 24 years old and am relocating to Providence this upcoming October from Phildalphia, PA. I have never been to R.I. during any summer month and was wondering how the weather is. Here in Philly, it gets very hot and humid during July and August and am trying to figure out if it is worse in Providence, or a little cooler. it pretty much stays in the 90's here during those months with intense humidity and was hoping to catch a little break in Providence. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
I spent a short amount of time in Philly suburbs in the late 80's (school). There is not a huge difference weatherwise from Providence. As you know once you get south of Boston-its hot and humid in summer everywhere. There is more of a breeze in Providence in summer (sea breeze here can be strong), so it feels cooler.
Also Providence offers way more access to beaches than Philly (no more long drives to Ocean City or the Jersey shore), so there are more chances to keep cool in summer.
Actually, there must be a huge difference between Prov. and Philly if the latter is in the 90s almost every day. I think we only have about 2 weeks all summer where it gets in the 90s here. In fact, yesterday it didn't even get into the 80s!
Providence is cooler then Philly in the summer
the maritime influence is stronger
