Default Where to buy plants

I have a bit of a black thumb but was looking to pick up a couple of house plants to see how long I can keep them alive this time.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to buy plants, preferably close to Providence, but I don't mind driving a little ways. I'm looking for sometime that is of better quality than what you might find at the grocery store/home depot.

Well, if you really have a black thumb, you'll not do much better than what you get from Lowe's or Home Depot or even your large supermarket. They specialize in indoor black thumb stuff...

But if you want to get more exotic and more expensive, try Briggs Nursery in North Attleboro, or J & L Landscaping in Seekonk, or Peckham's Greenhouses in Little Compton. If you don't want to go that far, look around for florists in your neighborhood. They usually have indoor house plants.

Thanks Holly! I'll check out some of the places you suggested and I appreciate a link. A friend suggested that my woes my be due to buying a poor quality plant to start with and suggested I try someplace other than home depot. I really have no clue though! I'm determined to break out of the "buy a plant-slowly kill it-buy a new plant" cycle.
