Want to move to RI next year, almost moved there 15yrs ago, beautiful state. Can anyone tell me if the people in RI hate NY'ers? I have lived in NC for 2 long years now & I don't want to move to another state that has CLOSE MINDED people like these southerners & I noticed on the MA forum, there are alot of NY haters. I would appreciate some feedback please.

There's an old joke about a Rhode Islander moving to NYC and a New Yorker moving to RI, driving east/west on 95, yelling at each other, "Go Back! Go Back!"

not just NYers in NC, I am from VA and German, you know how I feel, right??

What a great question. I want to get out of NJ but the South isn't for me and too far inland from the coast doesn't appeal either. Rhode Island seems nicely balanced and the slower pace would be wonderful, but wouldn't want to end up somewhere where I would be unwelcome.
No one in RI will attack you from being from NY. If you wear a NYY hat or jersey you'll probably get heckled, but they aren't going to run you out of town. Some of my best friends are from NY and my dad knows lots of people at work that root for the NYG and NYY. At the end of the day, they go to a sports bar and watch the games together.

To quote my former neighbor, "New Yorkers are the nicest people in the world. But if you mess with us, we'll stab you!" She was about 65 and a complete riot.

I'm from NY and of course I'm a huge Yankee fan. I'm curious why you guys hate the Yankee's so much? Please tell me, because the only thing I can come up with is 2 rings or 26 rings..is that it????
