Nah, the only thing like others said is the Yankee Red Sox crap. But you will find Yankee fans here too. Never had any experience of people hating other cause they are from NY. Many of us like to take trips to NYC, can't hate the people too much Seems more like a southern thing.

I've been vacationing in RI for over 20 years and have never heard of Rhode Islanders hating New Yorkers. I think the NCers hating NYers is because so many of us are flocking to the area for its low taxes and cost of living, but at the same time wanting the life style they had up north. A New Yorker retiring to Rhode Island (Like I plan on doing) is probably going to move there because they genuinely enjoy the area and isn't looking for the same life they had in New York. After all, the taxes and cost of living in Rhode Island are high, just like New York, so its not like they're moving for economic reasons. Plus New York is so close to Rhode Island that if we miss the city life every once and a while, we could always take a short 2-3 hour ride down 95 and spend a day/weekend.

I went to college in MA, and still have friends who live in MA and all of New England. I visit them frequently. I'll admit that I never knew any one that well from RI, but I think that New Englanders and NYers in general have a mutual respect. As well we should.

I have never felt any hostility from New Englanders. I would not think RI would hate NYers.

Now North Carolina is another story and another planet. With the exception of some larger cities and Asheville and perhaps Wilmington, that state does HATE NYers and one could not pay me to live in that flamingly red, religious fanatical state.

They do not like North Easterners and the recent influx of North Easterners is VERY disturbing to most of them. I would NEVER want to live in a state where I was hated - especially one filled with a bunch of rabid neo cons who are still fighting the Civil War.

Never heard anything so ridiculously narrow minded. It doesn't matter where you are from, or where you move to. As long as you don't belly ache about "how good it was" where you moved from, and you assimilate into the culture of your new location, there is no problem. Last I checked it's a free country.

Best some northerners really need to stay north, it's all about attitude and blooming where you're planted!

Most Rhode Islanders don't hate New Yorkers, but we do hate their sports teams. Yankees, Mets, Jets, Giants, and Rangers - can't stand 'em!

Since I don't give a crap about sports that would never matter.

Most people who move from RI don't belly ache about how good it was where they came from or how they wish their new place had (x) where they came from.

As in:

"As long as you don't belly ache about "how good it was" where you moved from, and you assimilate into the culture of your new location, there is no problem. Last I checked it's a free country.'

Narrow minded, such as:

"Now North Carolina is another story and another planet. With the exception of some larger cities and Asheville and perhaps Wilmington, that state does HATE NYers and one could not pay me to live in that flamingly red, religious fanatical state.

No matter where you came from, you won't be accepted if you belly ache about everything you perceive is lacking in your new place no matter where it is, and repeatedly say "how they do it back in ...", the locals ae quick to tell you that if it was so good where you came from, you'd better hustle and get back there.

Realtors normally are very understanding and knowledgeable about all the various reasons why people are free to move about the country.

Realtors are mostly knowledgeable and understanding about how to move property as quickly as possible, and will say anything to do it. Esp. these days.

Nothing narrow minded about it. Read their forum.

They put on the southern charm when visiting. Realtors and builders are nice everywhere. They want your money.

I have Republican cousins who moved there during the first wave of people leaving NY.
They are now Southerners - Southern accents and Politics slightly to the right of Atilla the Hun.

BUT - my cousin's daughter - who speaks with a southern accent and is a graduate of Clemson U also a Captain in the US Army - felt disliked by her MIL to be.

It finally exploded with the woman slapping my cousin's daughter!

The woman broke down saying that "she was just so sad that Sara's (not her real name) parent and whole family are Yankees"

This stuff runs DEEP! And do not kid yourself!
