I purchase a car in Rhode Island recently and was told anything over ten years old does not require a title. I live in CT and need the title to register it. Is there any forum that I can have the previous owner fill out to get the title? The car is a 98. Thanks for any help!

The previous owner needs to go to "Research" at the main Registry in Cranston to get a certified copy of the registration and a letter stating that it's in lieu of title. It costs $11.50, IIRC. And you *do not* have to take a number and wait; it's in its own department (third floor, I think) and usually takes less than ten minutes.
