We would be relocating to RI next month and would like to hear from people who knows the place well.
The company would be at pawtucket,RI. I would like to know which area can I find good schools and which are the safer district for living. Which are the places which we should avoid? Appreicate all advice. |

Well Pawutcket itself isn't the greatest city. Nor is some of the surrounding areas (like Central Falls). If you like a decent commute, you could look at Attleboro (North or South) just across the border in MA. That's a great area. Seekonk, MA is also a pretty decent area and would have access to Pawtucket via 114A to 1A or even the backside (152 to 1A). If you want to stay in RI, then some of the northern Providence suburbs (Lincoln, Smithfield) would be very good, though the commute might be tougher, especially if you're coming down 146 to 95, but there are back roads (e.g., 146 to Mineral Spring Ave) that are certainly plausible. Be forewarned - if you ask Rhode Islanders about commutes, many feel that commuting more than 20 minutes is horrendous, so just keep things in perspective. I think it's the effect of living in the smallest state (and I should know - I grew up there!).

You can also live in cranston or warwick..just south of Providence. Most 'native' RI'ers don't like to drive...but if you're like me...a "commute" doesn't bother me. I'm not originally from RI...I'm a NY transplant.......by way of the south, west coast, and overseas....

How far is New Jersey to RI anyway...I read that that even the greatest schools are having way lower score than any other schools in the other states?
I have 2 schooling kids. 14yrs old and 8 yrs old. |

I agree with the post above saying Seekonk is a nice place to live with very easy access to Pawtucket. It also depends on where in Pawtucket you will work.
Regarding high schools- the public schools in Pawtucket are not the best, but the private ones are good. I'd go for Lincoln, Smithfield, Cumberland, N. Prov, etc. Let me know if you have any specific questions about certain areas. I'm not an original RI'lander... so I LOVE to drive ![]() |

Good morning,
As xfountaingirl stated, No Providence, Lincoln, or Cumberland are good choices, for schools, and homes/apartments. Check out Chamber of Commerce, if you have time. Pawtucket is very close from these towns. What has brought you to RI? Curious, as I relocated BACK here in 2003. J |

I'm very familiar with Hasbro, which is on Newport Ave in Pawt.
A really easy commute would be from Attleboro or South Attleboro. You could do Seekonk as someone pointed out. Plenty of Hasbro executives have chosen Barrington and East Greenwich, while upscale, don't exactly give you the nicest commute every day. Cheers, Mikey |
