Agreed, definitely hit or miss. I used to work in a different department under a manager who was very rigid and didn't allow for flex hours so to try to get to work by 8:30 was beyond a crap shoot. I don't think I was ever so stressed as that commute every day.

What surprised me this year, though, was the holiday span. Typically, that has been a 'vacation' for commuting but this year, I saw no change at all. What a bummer!

Sunshinecc & Raiderman: Thanks for the comments & dialogue. I'm facing the fact that 95 will be a part of this commute if from Rehoboth area and I will aim to start as early as possible. Was initially thinking 24 because I thought that Tiverton might be an option for residence and now thinking that's too far south for daily commute. Also, used to occaisionally drive from my office in eastern part of Rehoboth area to Dedham during day (not commuting hours, though) and I used to take 24.

Sunshinecc - I like your location blurb! Ha! If I could find a way to do a reasonable commute from beaches in Middletown, RI to West Roxbury I'd like that too. However, Rehoboth commute is already looking like a full plate - better quit while i'm ahead.

Every once in a while I toss around the idea of how nice it would be to live closer to the water...and then I have one of those hellish commutes that reminds me it really doesn't take me *that* long on the weekends to get to the water, lol

I am considering employment at the VA hospital in West Roxbury, MA. I presently live in Washington, DC area. I have roots in the Rehoboth, MA / RI area and I will likely be commuting from Rehoboth if employed in West Roxbury. If not Rehoboth then neighboring areas near rt 24, maybe as far south as Tiverton. Mapquest shows both Rehoboth, MA & Tiverton, RI to be approx 50 miles ( 1 hour) from West Roxbury. I'd prefer not do the thru-Providence, up 95 north thing.

Some commute questions:

1. Anyone familiar with the RI / SE Mass commute to 93 then 95 via rt 24?

2. From Rehoboth, MA or Tiverton, RI, with work schedule 7am -3:30 M-F, does 1 hour sound reasonable, or am I greatly underestimating?

3. Anything I have not asked about this commute that I should be asking?

Thanks in advance for your time and help!

If you are going to live in Rehoboth don't go 24 go into Pawtucket get on 95 N West Roxbury from Pawtucket is less than 35miles. Take the Dedham 1 north exit..
