Default Best time of year to move

I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on the best time of year to move to Rhode Island is. I'm planning on moving to Providence at the beginning of July, because I think there might be more rentals and maybe a little bit cheaper prices (due to all the college kids leaving). What are your thoughts on this? Is there a better time of year to move to Providence? Thanks!

Hm, don't know about cheaper rentals in the summertime. Usually I find that rents come down a bit during the cold months, not many people like to move during wintertime.

Good luck with your search.

If you're talking about Providence the summer would probably be good at least in the sense that there are less college kids there competing for off campus housing. I moved in September '03 but I had already had a place lined up in July.

The winter would be the best time for getting a good deal on rent, in the north, because people stay put in cold weather. There may not be as many places to rent, but landlords will drop prices or give a free 1st month to get you in.

We do have a lot of college kids in Providence on the east side, but our college population does not make as big of an impact as it does in a bigger city. The reason for this is Providence does not have a big school (URI size) in the city. Also, unless you are around that age, you may not want to live in an area with a lot of college kids.

If you look hard enough and maybe add some of the towns in greater providence (like Johnston, Cranston, North Providence, East Providence) to your search you should find something that works.
