This is always great to see! Between business travel and tourism it seems that Providence is really thriving in this aspect! I personally think a lot has to do with the food scene that has emerged as one of the top in the country.

Did you know there's a new hotel going up on the little triangular bit of land downtown next to the post office?

Report: R.I. benefiting from Boston travel and tourism spillover - Providence Business News

this story came out in September as Pinnacle was invited by the Rhode Island Hospitality Association to speak at its annual meeting. To me it was a cheap shot on Providence and Rhode Island hotel/motel industry. Everything is not all Boston and the nearly 3000 new rooms built in our market in the last 10 years were not for the benefit of the Boston market but to meet the needs of Providence and Rhode Island. The fact that two more hotels are to be built in downtown Providence attests to the fact that we are not a spillover location for Boston's hotel needs. They are being built to fill Providence's needs which keep increasing yearly.

You can always depend on the bigger cities refusing to acknowledge that there actually might be advantages and attractions to living here -in gasp- the Providence area.

You might say Providence is the Goldilocks city: Not too big, not too small.
