As long as you're happy with the condo purchase then that's all that matters.

You're the one doing that. No doubt you would think my Wayland Square condo looks like a project too.

Agreed, Casey. I would like to use this thread to help potential buyers/renters ask questions and evaluate Ocean's Way or any other condos in Newport. To be able to use this as a resource to gain a better idea. Spurious and ignorant assertions only cause unnecessary confusion for interested individuals.

Ridiculous comment. All of Wayland Square is nice.

Shouldn't you be out walking all over South Providence and/or Olneyville?

My building looks no different from those. Same dated brick exterior.

And I'm walking to Olneyville tonight for dinner! Assuming its not pouring. This is a very nice walking city, I can get to anywhere in 45-75 minutes.

Sorry, timberline, but nothing in Wayland Square even resembles housing projects.

On the east side, the closest thing to housing projects would be those apartment complexes behind the Whole Foods on North Main. And I don't believe they technically are.

Enjoy your meal!

)

This is true, and my place looks like these (even a bit more run down maybe, unfortunately) and neither of the places looks like projects!

The assumptions here are off the charts.
The only point I would add is to bring the conversation back to the principal tenant of real estate value: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Regardless, of any other factor, style or otherwise, value & price are determined by where it's located. Mass produced apartments, once built for poor people, become valuable if the location becomes valuable. Formerly subsidized Section 8 apartments in an old rundown navy town become "Garden Residences" in now desirable Newport. And, make no mistake, Newport is now uber desirable. Today, even tiny shacks sell there for near $500k - in days, if they can be found. Another example of such a Location Transformation is the now sought after Armory District in PVD:

Default Looking for Ocean's Way

Hello! I am also interested in finding a place in Ocean's Way. Newport is my favorite place in the world. I have been having trouble finding anything on the market. Do the condos come available very often? Thanks in advance for any info!
