Hey guys, I'm a new member of this forum!.. I just accepted a new job in Providence, and am planning to move in in late May. Just wanted to know how much would utilities expenses stated below be for a 4-member family, and the best places to locate, as far as safety, school and family-type neighborhoods is concerned!..
Also would you tell me if there is another monthly payment I am missing?
1. Power bill
2.- Water bill
3.- Heat bill
4.- Cell phone bill
5.- Phone bill, Cable, Internet
6.- Car insurance bill??..

Thank you very much in advance!!!!

These answers are HIGHLY variable, based upon the size of your house and type of car. That said, here are some very rough estimates. All figures are MONTHLY averages - keep in mind electricity tends to cost more in the summer. Heat used seasonally, of course:
Power bill (i.e. electricity) = $100-150./month
Water bill = $50-65./month
Heat bill (i.e. natural gas or heating oil) = $150-250./month
Phone bill = $50. month (one land line); $30-50 month (one mobile phone)
Internet = $40./month (high speed cable modem); Cable TV = $70/month
(NOTE: depending on where you live, you may be able to get a complete phone/internet/TV package for around $100-125/month)
Car insurance: $50-100/month (This is HIGHLY variable; depends on the kind of car you drive, your driving record, type of insurance coverage)

Best places to be: Barrington and East Greenwich

Keep in mind if you get a place with oil heat you'll be paying a lot more than $150/month for heat in the winter. I'd opt for a place with natural gas.
