Hello everyone,
My name is Karen and my husband recently accepted a job with a company in North Kingstown. I need suggestions as to where to live that would be within 15-20 minutes of there. We're looking to rent an apartment for now and have been thinking about one of the complexes. Hubby will be traveling at least monthly so I want to be sure I'm in a secure area. Also...I'll be looking for work in the substance abuse/mental health field. Is there anyone in this field that might have some recommendations as to what agencies to look into and/or stay away from? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give me! Karen |

It's tough to answer this question without some more details as to what you are looking for in where you want to live.
There are a lot of really nice areas within that distance of NK. What is important to you? Do you have kids? Do you prefer being close to a city or a bit more rural? Warwick, East Greenwich, and NK all have nice areas and are reasonably close to Providence if you end up working there. Will your husband be flying when he travels? The airport is in Warwick... If you head south from NK you will be closer to the beaches if that's your thing. Narragansett is a very nice town although it might be a bit expensive for housing with a lot of beachfront property and many college students (it's near URI). Just provide some more detail about what you're looking for here... |

There's a number of communities within 15 minutes of North Kingstown so it depends on your preference. If you like the small downtown sort of feel, you could rent a place in Wickford or downtown East Greenwich, both about 10 minutes away from Quonset (assuming that's where he'll be working). East Greenwich can be expensive though.
I believe the state mental health agency is in Cranston, try the state jobs website for more information (Job Opportunities in Rhode Island State Government). There's also Butler Hospital in Providence, Bradley Hospital in East Providence and probably a lot others that have mental health programs. |
