It's one of my favorite parts of RI to visit, especially in the summer. You can take a walk by the water, enjoy some fantastic seafood, Colt State Park, or just walk down Hope St and enjoy the nice atmosphere. |

Without hesitation: Narragansett, Jamestown, or Downtown Newport. I live in Warwick and I drive down to any one of them atleast once a week to enjoy the drive there, take pictures and just enjoy the area.

Mr 2448 & RocFisherman,
Wow ~ One of the 8th wonders...had no idea...maybe I haven't seen all of Block Island yet!! I'll definitely spend more time there this summer...any recommendations for places to stay there...restaurants etc... Also...didn't know that Theatre by the Sea was opening...awesome...I never got a chance to go. :-) ~~Rhonda |

I would spend all 3 days in Newport. There is more than enough to keep you busy, especially in the summer, with shopping, The Doris Duke restorations, the museums, the mansions and the resturants. The rest of RI is ok but nothing special, nothing you can't miss. Plus you will have seen Providence anyway.

I don't live in Rhode Island yet, but I have been there many times throughout the years. I went to Block Island a few years back and it’s beautiful, along with Newport where I want to live in one of those big mansions when I win the lotto of course. I'm sure that the people who live there know more places, but from a visitor’s point of view, I would recommend those two places. Also, my mom loves Narragansett

With all due respect, don't forgo seeing the mansions or talking a walking tour of downtown Newport to visit East Greenwich. You can spend all three days in Newport and visiting Jamestown (five minutes away) and Narraganset, 20 minutes away or Bristol, 20 minutes away in another direction, and not see everything. East Greenwich, with all due respect is nicely located for residents, but the other towns have much more of the historic landmarks and WOW factor, most tourists are looking for. Take a harbor tour in Newport while you are there.
