There are quite a few Pentecostal or Penecostal Churches in Providence. I found more than a dozen in a google search.
Many Rhode Islanders attend one church or another regularly. As for Brown University, I worked at the medical school at one of their off-campus facilities and enjoyed the City, the university and much of what the university has to offer. And one of my daughters went to Brown in the 80s and loved it. It is very centrally located, has fairly good housing for students, and provides a good education. |

Gotta agree with Leighland...getting into Brown might be a tall order. No shame there though. It is an astoundingly hard school to get into. If you are interested in living and going to school in Rhode Island, however, you might want to look at URI (University of Rhode Island) in Kingston, RI.

There are many Pentecostal churches in Providence. The closest hub airport is TF Green in Warwick, about 10 minutes south of the city.
I live right near Brown, it's a nice area and a great school. Lot's of historic homes, shopping and things to do. The school itself is very diverse, given that it is an Ivy league school. |

Now that surprises me--it shows that Little Rhody is getting more diverse all the time

That said, Pentecostalism (and its related cousin, Evangelicalism) is somewhat unusual in RI Rhode Island, like other New England states, is generally not a place of religious fervor today. Indeed, New Englanders exhibit the lowest levels of religiosity in the U.S. and RI is not a place where people generally wear their religion on their sleeve. The dominant religious affiliation is Catholicism, and though I know of no data to confirm this, my hunch is that the percentage of Rhode Islanders who are weekly church goers is probably quite low. The atmosphere of Brown University is urban hip, cool, upscale, and (politically speaking) very liberal. The nearest airport is T.F. Green (airport code = PVD). PVD is served by all major U.S. airlines, including Southwest. |
