any info on old Kingston Fairgrounds 1940's (university, ticket)

Does anyone have any information or knowlege of the old Kingston Fairgrounds in Kingston, RI in the 1940's? When did it get established and is it demolished? Where was it located? What acitivities, famous people, etc. Are there any websites with info? Not interested in Kingston of Canada. I found an admission ticket in one of my grandmother's book and was curious what went on at the time. Looking forward to your assistance. Thanks.
