The Hampton Inn and the restaurant there has always been a hangout, and it is a very old hotel. So old it used to be a Howard Johnsons. It is directly on Rt. 95, and some pretty seedy characters hanging around in the restaurant -- because: that neighborhood is very seedy to begin with. Would never recommend someone stay there.
Of course you wouldn't because you haven't been around in years. The hotel has been totally renovated and is a very nice place. I have friends who have stayed recently since it is 3 minutes to the East Side.
Foxborough has little to do so you recommend Pawtucket???
This forum sure makes my head spin sometimes...
Because you like to draw ridiculous conclusions? I recommended the Hampton Inn in Pawt to stay because it's near the highway and close to all Providence amenities- not to take a tourist tour of Pawtucket. If the one in downtown is cheaper- go there.
jeez.Yes OP, near Brown is a good area if the place you've found looks nice. It would be very walkable.
Would you stay there Hollytree? This is an opinion forum, and most astute posters would recommend places that (1) are best for the people inquiring; (2) and not hype their own neighborhoods or places they're not personally familiar with.
So, I highlighted the name of the motel/hotel in red, didn't have a redlight emoji. Regardless, hope the OP has a wonderful time at the game and after. Staying overnight at the stadium is sensible, they will be in brutal traffic for hours otherwise.
(OP: pls ignore the personal attacks on well-meaning posters, we are accustomed to the problem.)

You consistently draw erroneous conclusions of my whereabouts and RI knowledge and experience for your own purposes. LOL!
Very sad and not helpful to OPs.
If you want to save money, there are cheaper local options like the America's Best Value Inn. It's not part of Patriot Place, but it's right across the street. Just be careful because some around there are pretty divey (although I heard that ABVI is OK).
Not right across the street, you have to walk down Rte. 1. If you want real divey and closer to the stadium there's the Red Fox motel (LOL).
OP .. save yourself the aggravation and stay at Patriot Place. There's a lot of conflicting info here. One thing that is certain whether you stay in Prov. or Pawtucket, you will have to deal with traffic ...and it will be awful and stressful. I know I said Patriot Place is a glorified shopping center, but there will be enough there to keep you occupied after the game. Check out Providence the night before and the day after. It's only about a 20/25 min drive.
and don't have up to date knowledge on local hotels but the OP will. Your knowledge of this hotel is out of date- period.
I do agree that so many who keep posting here don't even live here.
Is it a fact that posters on City Data MUST live within certain state lines or boundaries selected by others in order to post opinions? It is named CITY data, not RI Data. Matter of fact, anyone in the WORLD can post on CITY data.
I will suggest to the Admin. that they change the rules to suit your bias against other posters who don't meet your personal preferences. Admin. will simply have to adjust their rules for you.
The OP looking for a nice place to stay near Gillette Stadium has received some good information, and we all wish them a very nice weekend in spite of the unreasonable and unhelpful rancor on the RI forum(s).

But how can someone offer advice on an area that they don't live in or know much about?
