When I was looking, I strongly considered Pawtucket. While I looked in Oak Hill, in the end I was more interested in Quality Hill because of the nice Victorian housing stock in the Quality Hill Historic District at more affordable pricing than in Oak Hill. I ended up in Providence, but would have been happy in Pawtucket.

Must thou exaggerate so much IM ?

Having grown up in Pawtucket through college years, and owned some investment properties in Darlington, I will correct that to "Oak Hill & Countryside" are the best areas of Pawtucket. Not the state.

Thanks for agreeing.

We do not agree. Again, Oak Hill & Countryside are amongst the nicest residential neighborhoods, not only in Pawtucket, but in the STATE. That they are not the most expensive neighborhoods in the state makes them even a greater value.

Nicest. The problem with such a superlative, in this case, is that's it's necessarily subjective. Oak Hill may not be the toniest, most opulent or most bucolic, but it's got a great VIBE. Very nice little community. Simply for the purpose of example, I'll take it over Alpine Estates in WC any day.

Agree. Whole swaths of suburban Rhode Island are void of character. Vast acres & acres of tract McMansions, split levels & raised ranches. Alpine Estates & much of Western Cranston are evidence - as is most of Lincoln & Cumberland. Oak Hill & Countryside may not be near as pricey, but both have character with a real sense of place.

Pawtucket is a fine rental spot for a young childless (no concnern for public schools) couple. It is relatively inexpensive and conveniently located right on 95.
