North Providence vs Cranston
I am looking at moving to one of these cities. Which one is better and why?

Both cities have their good and bad spots. Cranston is a bigger town land mass wise. A good chunk of Western Cranston is pretty nice (mix of new and older well kept homes). The are in North providence near Rhode Island College and fatima is nice as well. I not really call one better then the other.

I vote for Cranston - mainly because of it's close proximity to highways, shopping etc

I'd say Cranston, way more variety in housing stock. You can have a huge Victorian near the water (Edgewood), a triple decker, a small lot single family, a sprawling mansion or just a normal suburban house or condo. North Providence is pretty much a giant strip mall with houses surrounding it. Mineral Spring Ave is a traffic hellhole. Cranston has traffic hellholes too, but it's much larger and you can get around them.

I currently live in North Providence. Moved here about 8 months ago from Providence. I was going to buy a house in Cranston instead but property taxes turned me off. North Providence is kind of high too but not compared to Cranston. Mineral Spring isn't as bad a people say. I actually like having everything so close. The one part that can get congested during rush hour is from Smithfield Ave to Douglas.
The Western part of Cranston is very nice but can be kind of pricey. The schools are better in western Cranston but with that comes higher taxes.
