good neighborhoods
What are the good/safe neighborhoods in Cranston & Pawtucket, and what are the boundaries? I've heard of Edgewood and Pawtuxet Village in Cranston, but have no idea what the boundaries are. In Pawtucket, I have no idea.
More specifically right now, I'm wondering about the following areas:
- the area bounded by Goff/Pine/Main streets in Pawtucket
- the area bounded by Grand View, Camp, and Pleasant streets in Providence
I know Camp and Pleasant are possibly the worst streets in East Side, but how is it in the blocks within that boundary?
Thanks!

That area of Pawtucket is pretty industrial, right next to downtown. Pretty much all of eastern Pawtucket (Darlington, Pinecrest) is decent by my standards atleast. Closer to Seekonk and Slater Park it gets more and more suburban. I used to live on York Ave and loved that I was close to bakeries, small restaurants, grocery store and the S Attleboro train station. Oak Hill is nice too (East Ave area) and resembles the East Side of Providence.
That area of Providence is known as Mount Hope. Pleasant St is pretty bad, a few shootings last year. Doyle is still pretty bad too. Generally the streets east of Camp are all fine. Between Camp and N Main some streets are a little shady. Camp Street itself is decent now, a lot of the houses have been fixed up and many are condos now. The park at the corner of Camp and Cypress is like a drive thru drug market in the summertime, though. Grand View is a neat street with cool views down the hill, but it too has some shady spots. All in all, though, it's a decent neighborhood close to everything the East Side offers.

When you say all of eastern Pawtucket, then, are you including Bayley/Goff/Main then? I.e., what exactly are the approxmiate boundaries of those areas ... Darlington, etc?
Thanks!

Bayley/Goff/Main is downtown. There's not much to do downtown, there's one good restaurant (China Inn), the YMCA, a few offices, the library and the Visitor's Center. It's not that bad an area, just boring and the residential is mostly high rise subsidized. I never unfelt unsafe there walking home at night from the Y, there's only the occasional bum from the Visitor's Center (also the Pawtucket RIPTA bus terminal).
By eastern Pawtucket I mean east of the river. Darlington is roughly the area east of George Bennet Hwy, including Slater Park. Pinecrest is the northeastern corner of the city, very suburban. Darlington gets more suburban the farther east you go. Quality Hill is nice too (urban), that's the area along Walcott Street just east of the river over to George Bennet.

Fairlawn neighborhood in Pawtucket has some nice areas. Basically the blocks between Windmill/Dora and Smithfield Ave.

Neighborhoods in Cranston
Parts of Edgewood are very nice (borders with Warwick); near water, large historic homes. Dean estates is a 1950s era suburban conclave with ranches and larger single family houses, very shaded, near shopping and Garden City mall. Knightsville is the old Italian settlement, now historically cute and trendy with walkable main street. Eden Park is nice 1920s to 1940s style houses, affordable, modestly sized. Western Cranston is a newer area, further out, more suburban to rural, larger lots.

What about nice areas of Johnston? That's a town no one ever talks about. (I know I know, the landfill!) But surely there must be some nice areas?

I would stay away from Camp and Pleasant streets and the surrounding areas. These areas are not very safe. Look closer to Miriam hospital.
