"Residents of Barrington have been informed by the town this week that portions of the historic Belton Court Estate on Middle Highway are slated for demolition next month. The property was last used by the Zion Bible College before it moved in 2008. The estate's main building was built in 1905 for Frederick Stanhope Peck, a businessman and Rhode Island political figure, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Citizens of Barrington need to get busy here. Part of the problem is that the structure is pretty well hidden behind walls and is well back on the large lot- I'll bet a lot of people aren't even aware of it.
There is a Barrington Preservation Society but they don't seem to be active at the moment.
I recall as well that they let go a huge gorgeous rose garden that was open to the public and should have been preserved- thought that was so sad- it became a housing development. https://www.nytimes.com/1986/03/02/u...s-a-thorn.html
This type of real stone (not veneer) architecture is difficult to demo by neglect. And, incredibly expensive to reproduce today. Sounds like the main historic building isn't in danger. One of the most important buildings in Barrington. The re-use looks to be good.

Yes I've been up and down that road a number of times and don't recall seeing that at all.

It's a good question. I'm sure some *helpful* person will be along to provide that information shortly.
Also, it is worth pointing out, that Barrington is under five miles from South Providence, as the crow flies. Just so folks know. You can never be too careful.

I don't know about "right" near there, but the town of Barrington has a very low violent crime rate. Zero murders from 2006-2018. I'd assume you are extremely safe there.

As far as I know, the town newspaper reports on major crimes like bike theft.
